London-based designer James Nelson (aka Yo-Hello) experiments with complex forms to create multi-layered compositions that often inform his work as part of Research Studios, where he has worked since 2006. As a student he was featured in both Creative Review's graduate showcase and D&AD's student awards – a standard continued today with his commercial work featured in leading publications such as CR, Computer Arts Projects, Eight:48 and Design Week.

THEY is a series of prints created during an inspired burst one late night in September. Composed on instinct using layers of ink––as opposed to layout contrived in a machine––the prints explore personal reactions to discussions around the thought processes that go into decision-making, feelings of apathy and ultimately inaction. Selections from this series were originally featured at the Anti– Design Festival in September 2010 as part of a group exhibition alongside Ian Wright and Adrian Shaughnessy.
